Firstly, you will need the following materials:

Fresh flowers: Choose your favorite flowers such as roses, carnations, hydrangeas, etc.

Dehydrating agent: Used to remove moisture from flowers and maintain their shape.

Preservation solution: Used to replace the water in flower cells, restoring their color and texture.

Drying agent: Used to dry preserved flowers after treatment, preventing deformation or mold growth.

Vase or other decorative containers: Used to showcase your preserved flower artworks.

Steps to make preserved flowers:

  1. Prepare the fresh flowers: Select fresh and healthy flowers, preferably fully bloomed. Remove damaged petals and trim the stems, leaving only the intact flower heads.
  2. Dehydration process: Use hot glue to fix the flowers at the bottom of paper cups and pour the dehydrating agent over them until completely submerged. Then seal the container with plastic wrap and keep it away from light. Let the flowers soak in complete darkness for 24 hours. This step removes moisture from the flowers and maintains their shape.
  3. Preservation process: After 24 hours, the once vibrant flowers will turn completely white. Drain the dehydrating agent and pour in the prepared preservation solution. Seal the container as before and keep it in complete darkness for another 24-36 hours. This step allows the flowers to absorb the solution and regain their color and texture.
  4. Drying process: After the long wait, the flowers will regain their vibrant colors. Take out the flowers and gently place them on the drying agent to completely dry and maintain their beautiful appearance. This step also requires 12-24 hours of waiting.
  5. Decorate and showcase: Decorate the dried preserved flowers in a vase or other decorative container to showcase your DIY artworks.

Tips and precautions:

  • Choose fresh and fully bloomed flowers, avoiding wilted or damaged ones.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area when handling the dehydrating agent and preservation solution to avoid skin and respiratory irritation.
  • Keep the dried preserved flowers in a ventilated and dry environment, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.

After careful crafting and waiting, you will have your unique preserved flower decorations. Give this gift to your loved ones, as it speaks louder than words.
